32 Easy Home Remedies to Get Rid of Arthritis Quickly And Rheumatoid Arthritis Pain at Night

Arthritis pain can be alleviated to a great extent via medication, exercise, and stress reduction. However, we have provided a list of some effective home remedies that will help you get rid of arthritis.:

1. Apple Cider Vinegar

Add one teaspoon each of apple cider vinegar and honey in a cup of warm water. Consume this mixture on daily basis in the morning to get relief of arthritis pain.

2. Ginger

You may use ginger for the treatment of arthritis in any of the following ways:

  • Peel, slice and eat raw ginger on daily basis along with each meal.
  • Alternatively, you may apply ginger oil regularly to treat rheumatoid arthritis.
  • Or else, grind 6 teaspoons of caraway seeds, 6 teaspoons of dried ginger, and 3 teaspoons of black pepper. Consume 1/2 teaspoon of this mixture with water three times every day.

3. Turmeric

Add 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder in a glass of warm milk or drink fresh turmeric juice every day before going to bed.

  • Moreover, you can also consume 500mg to 1,000mg of turmeric capsules thrice a day.

4. Epsom Salt

In half a cup of warm water, mix together fresh lemon juice and epsom salt in equal amounts. Mix both the ingredients properly. Gulp down 1 teaspoon of this mixture twice a day, one in the morning and another one before you sleep.

  • Instead, soak in warm bath water with added 2 cups of epsom salt.

5. Cinnamon

Take a cup of warm water; add 1 tablespoon of honey and one-half teaspoon of cinnamon powder. Consume this mixture every morning on an empty stomach for a couple of days.

  • As an alternative, you can also prepare a paste of honey and cinnamon and rub it gently on the affected area to prevent arthritis.

6. Fish Oil

Consume 1 – 2 teaspoons of fish oil every day; or else, have fish oil supplements on an empty stomach in the morning.

7. Lemon

Take a glass of warm water and add two tsp of lemon juice and a tsp of honey in it. Drink it twice a day to detox your body.

8. Cherries

Consume 8 to 10 canned, frozen or fresh cherries daily. Moreover, you can prepare cherry syrup by boiling some cherries in water for a couple of minutes. Drink it for the next few months.

9. Alfalfa Seeds

Prepare a healthy cup of tea by adding 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of alfalfa seeds in a cup of boiling water. Simmer the heat and let it stand for 20 – 30 minutes. Strain, and drink this tea two times a day for 2 to 3 weeks.

  • Besides, you can also consume alfalfa capsules every day.

10. Magnesium Supplements

Being an important source for bone mineralization, magnesium cures arthritis to a major extent. It transforms the cellular events that cause inflammation. Eat magnesium capsules everyday to get relief from arthritis pain.

11. Borage

Consuming 1 teaspoon of borage seed oil on daily basis is one of the best natural remedies for arthritis. Apart from this, you can also massage the affected area with borage seed oil to cure arthritis in the knee.

12. Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Take 2 to 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil and massage it onto your sore joints two times a day.

13. Exercise

Try simple exercises such as go for a walk daily, or perform joint-targeted exercises.

14. Pectin and Grape Juice

Add 1 tablespoon of liquid pectin in 8 oz. of grape juice. Drink this solution 1 to 2 times a day.

Note – This remedy may take up to a week or two to show its effects.

15. Juniper Berry Tea

Take a mug and add 1 tablespoon of dried juniper berries to it. Pour 1 cup of boiled water over it. Let the mixture steep for about 20 minutes. Strain, and consume 1 cup of this solution two times a day. You may add up some honey if required.

Note – Don’t try this remedy if you are pregnant.

16. Carrots

Take a bowl, grate a carrot, squeeze some lemon juice and consume it in steamed or raw form.

17. Fenugreek Seeds

Soak about a teaspoon of fenugreek seeds in clean water for the whole night. Next morning, remove the water and eat the seeds.

18. Onions

Onions are packed with joint-soothing nutrients and vitamin C content prevents arthritis pain. Eat fresh onions to improve your immune system or cook them with fresh herbs for an added flavor.

19. Golden Raisins & Gin

Take a shallow dish and add a cup of golden raisins. Now, cover the dish with gin. Further, cover up the dish with the help of a towel and keep it in a dark place until all the gin has evaporated. It might take around 2 weeks. Consume 9 raisins on daily basis.

20. Green Gram

Soak 3 tablespoon of green gram in 250 ml of water for a night. Next morning, drain off the water and add 2 crushed garlic to green gram. Add a pinch of salt and pepper for taste and then eat a handful of this mix two times a day.

21. Black Cumin

In a glass of water, mix 2 teaspoons of black cumin. Bring the mixture to boil and continue boiling until the mixture reduces to ¾ of its original quantity. Allow the solution to cool down at room temperature and then drink it before you sleep and early morning every day.

22. Mustard Oil

In a pan, take 1 cup of mustard oil and add 10 gram of camphor. Heat the oil until the camphor is liquefied completely. Allow it to cool down and then massage your joints gently with this warm oil.

23. Fennel Seeds

Take a mortar and pestle. Now, crush 1 teaspoon of fennel seeds in it. Put these crushed seeds in a cup and add some hot water. Cover the mix with a lid and allow it to steep for 10 minutes. Drink this prepared tea twice or thrice a day.

24. Sesame Seed

Take a cup of water and steep some black sesame seeds overnight. Next morning, drink this water along with the soaked seeds.

  • Alternatively, you can also sprinkle some sesame seeds powder on any of your favorite dish.

25. Juice

Those who are suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, drinking certain juices that are high in anti-inflammatory components will surely work for them. Consume juices made from broccoli, parsley, and spinach; carrots, apples, and ginger; pineapple. If you are suffering from osteoarthritis, drink vegetable juices made from tomatoes, potatoes, peppers and eggplant.

26. Acupuncture / Electro-acupuncture

Acupuncture can be very useful for patients suffering from arthritis, particularly for alleviating pain due to osteoarthritis.

27. Hot / Cold Therapy

Take a warm shower for long or bath in the morning or use electric blankets and heating pads as hot therapies. During day time, you may apply cold packs for immediate pain relief from the symptoms of arthritis.

28. Cayenne Ointment

Take one cup oil (any) and mix three tbsp of cayenne powder. Heat the mixture in a double boiler for 10 minutes on a medium flame. Add half cup of grated beeswax and stir it properly to melt it completely. Now put this blend in the fridge for ten minutes. Whisk it and place it in the refrigerator for next 15 minutes. Keep it in a glass jar. Apply it daily to get some relief.

Note: Use this within 10 days.


29. Blackstrap Molasses Drink

Heat a cup of fresh water. When the water becomes warm, add a tablespoon of blackstrap molasses. Drink this mixture every day until the pain is gone.

30. Dandelion Leaves

Take a cup of boiling water and add 1 teaspoon of dried or 3 teaspoons of fresh dandelion leaves. Strain and drink this prepared tea two times every day.

31. White Willow Tea (the original aspirin)

Boil a cup of water. Now, simmer the heat and mix 2 teaspoons of chipped or powdered white willow bark. Allow the mixture to sit for 10 to 15 minutes and then remove it from the heat. Steep for another 30 minutes and drink this solution twice a day. You may add lemon or honey if you feel that the drink is bitter.

32. Peppermint and Eucalyptus Oil

Mix 5 to 10 drops each of eucalyptus and peppermint oil. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of carrier oil (olive oil or grapeseed oil), in order to dilute the solution. Massage your joints with this oil and store the remaining oil in a dark glass bottle away from the sun.


  • Drink a lot of water to keep yourself hydrated.
  • Quit smoking.
  • If you are overweight, reduce some weight.
  • Get adequate sleep.
  • Eat lots of fresh fruits like oranges, apples, papaya, grapes etc.


  • Avoid exercises such as running, jumping, walking on uneven surfaces, walking for long distances without taking rest, lower body stretching breaks and high-impact aerobics.

A foam topper can be placed over the hard mattress to match the requirements of body. Some Home Remedies
Massage the area with warm olive oil if the pain becomes unbearable at night.
Before going to bed, wrap the painful joint with red flannel so that the intensity of pain does not increase during the night.
Vinegar is a good pain reliever for people dealing with arthritis pain. Simply rub the joints with warm vinegar before sleeping and go to bed without worrying about the pain.
Prepare a massage oil containing 10 parts of olive oil and 1 part of Rosemary, Thyme or Garlic oil. Massage aching joints with it for quick pain relief.
A study has established that patients with rheumatoid arthritis are in a better position to manage the pain at night when they are at home and not at the hospital. This is because, at home they are able to freely walk around, have hot drinks and take pain killers if the pain becomes unbearable, but in a hospital setting, they find it difficult to do these things because of the fear of disturbing other patients. Therefore, it is recommended that patients staying at home should take proper medications, exercise and follow a healthy diet to keep a check on arthritis pain and enjoy a fruitful life.
